San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, was recognized as an HR Team of the Year winner by the San Diego Human Resource Forum (SDHR) at their November 17 virtual event. SDHR honored the hard work and accomplishments that the local HR community has made in the face of the past year’s unprecedented challenges. This year’s event celebrated five winning teams selected by the SDHR committee that shared their projects which focused on innovations and accomplishments that were achieved from some of the challenges that organizations and the HR community faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SDCCU implemented many new internal programs in the last year due to COVID-19, all with the focus and priority on people and safety. These included early communication, personal protection equipment, enhanced sanitation, social distance procedures, reduced branch hours, split shifts, remote work for 18% of staff, comfortable clothing, a temporary 25% base pay increase for branch employees, 20% for operations employees and ongoing wellness screens. These internal programs were in addition to what SDCCU offered customers which included consumer loan deferment, ATM fee waivers and early certificate withdrawal penalties waived. SDCCU also presented complimentary financial wellness webinars for customers and the community every Wednesday since March.
