SEA LIFE™ CARLSBAD AQUARIUM DECKS THE SEAS WITH
CHRISTMAS TREES
Aquarium Introduces Christmas Tree Worms
for the Holidays
CARLSBAD, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2011) – If you didn’t think Mother Nature could get in the holiday spirit, think again! Today, SEA LIFE™ Carlsbad Aquarium at the LEGOLAND® California Resort kicked off the holiday season with the arrival of some unique creatures – Christmas tree worms. With their multicolored spiral shaped bodies topped with two crowns, these creatures will amaze visitors with their uncanny resemblance to the traditional Christmas tree.
“We are always looking to enhance our guests’ experience and what better way than to introduce new aquatic animals for visitors to learn about and enjoy,” said Curator for SEA LIFE Carlsbad Aquarium, Bob Burhans. “We are fortunate to have these Christmas tree worms so young because our guests have the opportunity to watch them grow with each visit to the Aquarium.“
These creatures typically live on coral reefs in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific to the Caribbean. Taking into consideration the natural habitat of these creatures, SEA LIFE is showcasing the Christmas tree worms in the “SEA LIFE Lab” tropical coral display.
SEA LIFE also is spreading holiday cheer with a not-to-be-missed holiday-themed Dive Show, a ‘green’ crafting event and other festive activities on weekends now through Jan. 2. The Aquarium also is sharing ‘green’ tips with visitors in hopes that guests will take care of our environment all year long.
More than a standard aquarium, SEA LIFE provides an educational and interactive dynamic unlike any other. The SEA LIFE experience incorporates LEGO® models into a child’s voyage to the depths of the ocean, presenting the wonders of the underwater world to them in a way specially designed for their understanding. Featuring play zones, fun facts and quiz trails, SEA LIFE is designed to be a child’s guide to the life of the sea.
