The Orange County Waves, a Professional Women’s Soccer Team will be
going head-to-head with the Los Angeles Premier FC in the season opener on June 4th, 2011.
This game will take place in the heart of Orange County at Orange Coast College (OCC) at
6:00pm. This season, the OC Waves will be competing in the Pacific South Division of the
Women’s Premiere Soccer League, the largest women’s soccer league in the world. The OC
Waves is one of only two professional women’s clubs in California. With a stadium that fits
7,000 fans, this will be the biggest sporting event in OC for women’s soccer.
The OC Waves will be coached by nationally respected coach, Abner Rogers, who was recently
honored in the USASA Hall of Fame in 2010. He has been praised for his passion and
contribution in the advancement of adult amateur soccer. “I am excited about our home opener…
LA Premier FC is a good team that plays good soccer, so it should be an entertaining game for
the fans to see,” said Rogers.
Many local OC residents have been added to the roster this year
including, sisters Dani and Kiki Bosio and Jenny Hammond. International players, Katrin
Omarsdottir (Iceland) and Kelly Lawrence (England) are also on the squad, as well as, former
WPS player, Brittany Klein. Each home game will feature a promotional giveaway for the first
250 fans.
The OC Waves will be conducting special events and camps to benefit the community. To

OCC is located on Fairview, just west of the 405 Freeway
