JULY 2013

SEAWORLD’S 4TH OF JULY BLAST: SeaWorld® will celebrate Independence Day with a number of festivities: the day will start with a 4th of July Flag Ceremony, just before the park opens, featuring the United States Army San Diego Recruiting Company Color Guard, and, through the Wounded Warrior Program, Staff Sergeant Jason Gibson. Then, starting at noon, SeaWorld Radio will host a live broadcast that will continue until 11 p.m., featuring rock and pop tunes from the 1960s through today along with American-themed songs piped in over the park-wide sound system. Guests will be encouraged to visit the SeaWorld Radio booth in the park’s Entrance Plaza, meet a DJ and request their favorite songs.  More music will abound from SeaWorld’s Animal Connections’ lawn from 1 to 7 p.m.  In between the local group Polyester Express performances, SeaWorld animal ambassadors will delight park-goers.  And in the midst of the park’s Summer Nights at SeaWorld celebration, the “Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular” will light up the night sky with an extended display of pyrotechnics at 9:30 p.m.  SeaWorld is open until midnight on July 4.  For show schedules and more information visit www.SeaWorldSanDiego.com.

BEAT THE HEAT AT AQUATICA: With rising summer temperatures throughout the season, Aquatica SeaWorld’s WaterparkTM has plenty of ways to keep guests cool. Among lushly landscaped attractions with high-speed thrills and the amenities of a beachside resort at this whimsical, South Seas-themed waterpark is one of the largest wave pools in Southern California: Big Surf ShoresTM, featuring more than 500,000 gallons of water guests may swim in and a huge sandy beach to bask in the sun.  Guests may also cool off at nearly a dozen other slides and rides, including Loggerhead Lane, a 1,250-foot-long lazy river; and Walhalla Wave, a 78-foot ride that families can enjoy together.  Up-close animal experiences with beautiful Caribbean flamingos and freshwater turtles round out this experience — as only SeaWorld® can.  Aquatica is open daily through Sept. 2 and weekends only Sept. 7 to Oct. 20.  For more information, visit www.AquaticaSanDiego.com.

MADAGASCAR LIVE! OPERATION: VACATION IS NOW OPEN: SeaWorld® guests can sing, clap and dance along to the ultimate interactive show this summer and all year long. Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation, an original live musical production that features characters from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.’s beloved “Madagascar” franchise, is now open.  The 20-minute musical follows the antics of Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, King Julien, Mort and the Penguins during a vacation adventure.  Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation features rock/pop music performed by a live band with classic and original songs and guests even get the chance to be part of the party!  After each performance, guests can enjoy a meet-and-greet session with a character from the show.  For more information, visit www.SeaWorldSanDiego.com.
