Segerstrom Center for the Arts Receives 2018 Estrella Award from Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is honored to have been recognized as Community
Partner of the Year during the prestigious Estrella Awards hosted by the Orange County Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Chamber, “the awards recognize outstanding contributions in
the fields of business, community, and education.” Additionally, the Center received Certificates of
Recognition from Orange County U.S. House of Representatives members Mimi Walters (45th District),
Luis Correa (46th District) and Alan Lowenthal (47th District), California State Senator Patricia C. Bates
(36th District) and California State Assembly members Tom Daly (69th District) and Matthew Harper (74th

Segerstrom Center President Terrence W. Dwyer said, “The Estrella Award presented by the Hispanic
Chamber is an honor we are very proud to have received. The Center is committed to being truly
inclusive with all of the programmings in our theaters, on the Argyros Plaza, and through our community
engagement and education programs. We are pleased to be able to collaborate with the community to
present many performances and festivals that reflect the county’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.”
Dwyer added, “We thank the Chamber for this great honor and want to also thank our friends on the
Center’s Community Engagement Committee, who guide our efforts with valuable insight and
encouragement.”

The Center has forged productive relationships with the Consulado de México, El Centro Cultural de
México, Círculos High School, Santa Ana’s annual Dia De Niño, Noche De Altares and  long-term
relationships with many schools in which English is a second language.

The OCHCC represents the interests of and provides access to Orange County’s 30,000 Hispanic-owned
businesses. It supports the development of these businesses by providing opportunities for networking,
legislative advocacy, access to capital and education and training programs.
