Sgt. Ray Ulmer
Ulmer takes the reins from former administrative sergeant Bert Copeland who was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and transferred to the Theo Lacy facility after serving as Chief of Police Services Lt. John MacPherson’s right-hand man since October.
Ulmer comes to the position with a wealth of law enforcement experience under his belt and familiarity with this community. He has served as a South Operations supervisor for the cities of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Woods and Rancho Santa Margarita. For several years, Sgt. Ulmer served as the administrative sergeant for the city of San Juan Capistrano.
Lt. John MacPherson said he’s proud of the outstanding members of the Sheriff’s Department who work in Aliso Viejo and have passed through these city doors.
“We are fortunate to have superior Sheriff’s personnel here, and I know that Ray’s broad range of experience in operations and administrative work, coupled with his friendly approachable demeanor will help facilitate great partnerships with our staff and within this community,” he said.
