GIRL SCOUTS OF ORANGE COUNTY AS CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Husain will rally Orange County to invest in Girl Scouts who will change the world
Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC) announced today the appointment of Shaheen Husain to its executive team as Chief Development Officer. In this role, Husain will oversee the strategic direction of philanthropy at Girl Scouts of Orange County and drive the community’s investment in girls who will change the world.
Husain is a seasoned business development and fundraising executive with a strong community network and demonstrated success in creating strategic partnerships that attract funding, corporate support, and community recognition. Prior to joining Girl Scouts of Orange County, Husain was Principal at Accelerating Impact in Orange County, partnering with non-profit executives to diversify and fuel their fundraising programs. Earlier, Husain served in executive development positions with Orange County United Way and CHOC Children’s Hospital Foundation. She also served over a decade as Executive Director of Corporate Relations and Chief Strategy Officer for the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine.
Husain joins Girl Scouts of Orange County at an exciting time. The council recently announced receipt of a $2.8 million grant from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott to fuel its commitment to reach all Orange County girls. Husain’s role is vital to Girl Scouts of Orange County’s vision to ensure that every girl across Orange County, from every social, cultural, economic, and developmental sector, has access to the life-changing experiences Girl Scouts provides her to take the lead in her own life and the world.
“Shaheen is an outstanding addition to Girl Scouts of Orange County,” said Vikki Shepp, CEO of Girl Scouts of Orange County. “She brings a wealth of strategic fund development expertise to our organization at a time when we are well poised to reach more girls in communities that have been under-engaged; foster program innovation in the arts and outdoors, informed by the current interests and needs of girls; and bolster the “foundations” of the Girl Scout movement in critical areas such as research and staff and volunteer training.”
Husain was born in Khartoum, Sudan and attended schools on four continents by the time she reached ninth grade. Currently a resident of Costa Mesa, Husain holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Organizational Studies from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA.
