The Vanguard University Department of Theatre Arts presents
Shakespeare’s Kings, Lovers and Fools
A compilation of Shakespeare’s characters and familiar scenes brought together through common theme
The works of William Shakespeare adapted by Susan K. Berkompas
Directed by Susan K. Berkompas
This newly adapted work weaves together the classic and the contemporary through themes of love, greed, jealousy and revenge. The story deconstructs Shakespeare’s most famous characters and speeches juxtaposing them against the canvas of a post-modern society. Characters abound from such plays as Romeo and Juliet; Macbeth; Hamlet; Richard III; A Midsummer Night’s Dream and more. Each character’s plight becomes a familiar motif as it is compared and contrasted to current, global events of our time. Original music was also composed specifically for this work to accent each scene and provide an undercurrent for the story to flow upon.
