MORE SCHOOL DAYS! On behalf of the Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce the reinstatement of two days of instruction into the 2010-2011 school calendar. The days were to be non-working furlough days for District employees, but were restored according to negotiated agreements. The reinstated days will be Thursday, February 17, 2011, and Friday, May 27, 2011. Please support this calendar change by making sure students attend school on both of the reinstated days.
PARENT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY: Moulton Elementary has graciously extended an invitation for Malcom parents to attend a Parent Education night sponsored by their PTA night on Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30-8:00 P.M. in Moulton MPR. The incredible Dr. Jerry Weichman, Ph.D., will present How to Promote Kindness and Compassion at School and at Home. The timing of this relevant topic comes at such a critical time in our children¡¦s development. Dr. Weichman is a clinical psychologist who has been in practice for 12 years in the Orange County area. He is on staff at the Hoag Neuroscience Institute and has published a book for teens titled ‘How to Deal’. In addition to having a private practice, Dr. Weichman is also a teen motivational speaker, parent educator, and television news expert.
His talk at Moulton will focus around tools and strategies for parents and children to deal with bullying and social conflict. This is a not-to-be missed, free educational opportunity for all Malcom parents, guardians and adult care providers.
