Date:

Aliso Viejo, CA – A small private liberal arts college in Aliso Viejo, CA has entered the “Top 50” in US News & World Report’s annual ranking of national liberal arts colleges – at the age of 11.

Soka University of America (SUA) tied for 49th in the national liberal arts college rankings – and was ranked #1 in Faculty Resources and Foreign Student Factor (with 42% of students coming from over 40 other countries.) SUA was also #2 in Ethnic Diversity (without including international students)
and #8 in Best Value Schools. This ranking also placed Soka University in the top seven liberal arts colleges on the west coast.

“We know that we are providing a strong academic program because our students have been accepted at top graduate programs – including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Oxford,” noted SUA president Daniel Y. Habuki, “but it’s very gratifying to see such high national rankings when we only opened our liberal art college in 2001.” The U.S. News Best Colleges 2013 rankings data are available at: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges.

Soka University is a private, four-year liberal arts college and graduate school located on 103-acres overlooking a wilderness park in Aliso Viejo, CA. The university celebrated its 10th Anniversary in Aliso Viejo in 2011, and is ranked in the top 10 liberal arts colleges on the West Coast by US News and World Report. Soka University offers a 9:1 student/faculty ratio and study abroad for every undergraduate student. Founded upon the Buddhist principles of peace, human rights and the sanctity of life, SUA is open to top students of all nationalities and beliefs. About half of Soka University’s students come from the US and half from more than 40 other countries. Admitted students whose annual family income is $60,000 or less may be eligible for Soka Opportunity Scholarships which cover full tuition. Additional scholarship opportunities are available for higher income levels. www.soka.edu
