Cox Communications to award $65,000 in “Innovation in Education”

South OC teachers and schools in the Cox Communications service area can apply for an Innovation in Education grant to support their innovative classroom project. Cox will award a total of $ 65,000, apply now through Nov. 8, 2018
Cox Communications is now accepting applications from public, charter and private schools in South Orange County for its “Innovation in Education” grants to help fund innovative classroom programs for students in grades K-12. Cox will award a total of $65,000 in grants. The maximum individual grant amount is $5,000. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (PT) on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018.

Funded through Cox Charities, the “Innovation in Education” program is part of Cox Communications’ long-standing commitment to support the innovative use of technology in local schools in the Cox service area.
Teachers, principals, and administrators at eligible schools are encouraged to submit an application for unique projects that provide creative, technology-based curriculum, and enhance the traditional classroom experience by supporting one of the following areas:
- Skills-Based Learning – Develops specific skills and behaviors based on real-life scenarios
- STEAM Learning – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, and Mathematics
- Digital Literacy – Develop skills necessary to navigate today’s online environment
- Cyber Citizenship (Internet Safety/Cyber-Bullying) – Education that encourages safe and healthy online behavior
Previous “Innovation in Education” grant recipients include schools from Capistrano Unified School District, Irvine Unified School District, Laguna Beach Unified School District, Saddleback Valley Unified School District and Tustin Unified School District. Programs have included robotics and engineering, 3D Replicator Desktop, and iPads for students with disabilities.
Grants will be awarded to schools that are located within Cox Communications’ Orange County service area.
