If you are heading south this weekend, be aware of a complex traffic switch on southbound I-5 at Avenida Pico that will cause significant traffic delays.

Southbound I-5 will be reduced to one lane at Avenida Pico and four nearby ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through noon on Saturday, as part of the I-5 South County Improvements. (A second lane of traffic is expected to open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.)

The closure will allow crews to safely connect the existing southbound lanes with the newly constructed lanes and bridge over Avenida Pico and shift traffic over to those new lanes.
