Registration is open for two Spring break camps that teach children about ocean science, Junior Neptunes for kids ages 6-8 & Junior Oceanographer for kids ages 9-12, on Thursday, April 10, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The programs include:
Junior Neptunes – In this program, discover what life is like underwater as you meet “Big Al,” the fish from the popular children’s book Big Al, interact with the animals in our lab, and conduct investigations in underwater adaptations. You will also have the opportunity to venture out on the ocean aboard the R/V Sea Explorer, first exploring the harbor and then taking a brief trip outside to view the local sea lions. Cost: $75. Junior Oceanographer – What is it like to be a marine scientist? Step into their fascinating world by exploring the principles of marine biology and oceanography. Your fun-filled day includes a two-hour Marine Wildlife Cruise on the R/V Sea Explorer, a tidepool walk, and hands-on laboratory activities, including a fish dissection. This exciting experience will spark your curiosity as you dive into the magical marine world! Cost: $75. (Become a member of the Ocean Institute and receive a discount.)
