This following information was reported from a middle school in San Clemente, but I wanted to make the Crown Valley community aware of a potential dangerous situation. There have been no reported incidences in the Laguna Niguel area. Please discuss safety procedures with your children.
Reported from Bernice Ayer Middle School located in San Clemente:
This morning it was reported by one of our students that a man in a tan Corolla parked by the side of the street asked him if he wanted a ride and where he was going. The young man did the right thing and quickly left the area without responding. The car made a u-turn and went by the boy again before it sped off.
The young man reported the incident when he got to school. The man had a white curly beard and a white moustache. The sheriff’s department was contacted and are on alert. Once again we are warning our students to be aware of strangers and to report anything suspicious. Please go over safety precautions with your child this evening.
• Always walk with a friend, and take a picture with their cell phone if possible.
• Your child should not take candy from a stranger and never should get in their car to help find a missing puppy.
• If a stranger does approach your child tell them to remember the license plate number, the color and make of the motor vehicle and to report this information to you immediately.
• Don’t assume it was nothing and discount what your child has to tell you. Call your local police and report any suspicious activity.
