Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now available for the annual Headquarters Battalion benefit golf tournament – “Tee It Up Fore Marines” – on Friday, October 17.
The event, which is sponsored by the Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee, City and Mission Viejo Community Foundation, benefits the Marines and Sailors of the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division.
The tournament includes 18 rounds of golf with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. at the pristine Marine Memorial Golf Course in Camp Pendleton.
Community members, businesses and organizations are invited to support Mission Viejo’s adopted troops by participating in or sponsoring the event. Sponsorships range from $200 to $5,000, but donations in any amount are welcome and appreciated. The fee for an individual golfer is $200. A foursome, which includes a Marine, is $800.
Along with the honor of golfing with Mission Viejo’s Marines, this fun-filled event includes lunch, a barbecue dinner and an awards ceremony.
Tournament proceeds support the programs the Mission Viejo Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee offers military personnel and their families. Things like supporting the Wounded Warriors; sending weekly care packages to deployed troops; an annual “Day at Lake Mission Viejo”; offsetting the cost for entry-level Marines to attend the annual Marine Corps Ball; distributing toys to Marine children during the holidays; baby baskets for newborns and expectant Marine wives; and other programs.
To support the event, make checks payable to the Mission Viejo Community Foundation and mail to the Marine Golf Tournament c/o Mission Viejo Community Foundation, 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
