Tamir Hendelman Trio to Play at the Soka University Jazz Monsters Concert February 25th, 2011

Tamir Hendelman Trio — Tamir Hendelman – piano, Ryan McGillicuddy – bass and Dean Koba – drums — will play Friday, February 25, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Soka University’s Founders Hall 3rd Floor, located at 1 University Drive, Aliso Viejo. Admission is $15 at the door for adults, free for under 18. Early arrivals may dine at the Soka Bistro “All You Can Eat Buffet” for $10.25, which opens 5:30 to 7:30 pm. • Wednesday, May 25, 2011 The Roni Ben-Hur / Nilson Matta Sextet (The Exotic New York-Budapest Brazilian Ensemble) with special guest

Background on Tamir Hendelman
At age 14, Tamir Hendelman won Yamaha’s national keyboard competition and has since toured internationally. He studied at the Tanglewood Institute and Eastman School of Music, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition. He performs with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, the Jeff Hamilton Trio, as well as his own trio. Tamir continues to be in demand as a pianist and arranger. His honors include being director of the Lovewell Institute, a clinician for the Thelonius Monk Institute, and awards from ASCAP and the NFAA. His newest CD, Destinations, was released August 2010 and became the #1 played jazz CD in the US.
