Team Chrome Dome Raises $15,000 at Light the Night Walk for Fight Against Blood Cancers
DANA POINT, CALIF., January 8, 2009 – Team Chrome Dome, led by team captain Van Skoglund of Dana Point, raised $15,000 at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter’s (LLS) 10th annual Light the Night® Walk fundraiser. The walk was held at Angel Stadium in September, and raised over $700,000 for the fight against blood cancers. Team Chrome Dome, despite being in its first year of existence, drew an impressive 50 participants. The team walked in honor of Kurt Thallmayer, a close friend and former roommate of Skoglund’s who is today battling leukemia.
“We drew a lot of caring family members and friends who wanted to come out in support of Kurt and to find a cure for all those who suffer from blood cancers,” remarked Skoglund.
Skoglund added that Team Chrome Dome would again be participating in the Light the Night walk in 2009. More volunteers are always needed. For additional information, please visit www.lightthenight.org or call Doug Vogel at the Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter at (714) 881-0610, ext. 329.
