The South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce Chambers recently celebrated its 40th year anniversary at the Annual Regional Cities Ball.
– Among the many highlights of the “Staying Alive” 2009 Regional Cities Ball was the presentation of the Commerce Award. The award is presented annually to a South Orange County City Council or group of Council Members who have significantly improved the economic climate for South Orange County. This year’s honorees are City of Aliso Viejo Council Members Carmen Cave and Bill Phillips.
Since the incorporation of Aliso Viejo, Cave and Phillips have been instrumental in developing one of the most sophisticated and advanced business districts south of Irvine. Serving on an Ad-Hoc Committee of the Council, Cave and Phillips provided leadership as well as strategic and thoughtful oversight as they worked with developers to help recruit major companies.
Together they worked with Parker Properties on The Summit and assisted in recruiting Pacific Life Insurance and The Renaissance Club Sport to Aliso Viejo. Other major developments include Safeco Insurance and LIV-WORK units built by Shea Homes. These are just a few of the projects and developments that thrived as a result of their involvement.
“They maintained a keen focus on sustainability and worked diligently to identify and pursue the best opportunities for their community,” shares Jim Leach, Chairman of the Board for South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce and Vice President of Public Affairs for Cox Communications.
