Seven tall ships from ports up and down the west coast assembled off the shores of South Laguna, and under full sail made way for Dana Point’s beautiful harbor, firing their cannons along the way. Those who have seen these magnificent ships in previous years know the surreal wonderment that this sight offers. It was an experience never to be forgotten!

Specializing in presenting audiences with historical “moments-in-time” in all their glory, the Naval Historical Education Foundation is dedicated to bringing Real History to life. Founded in 1998, the goal of the N.H.E.F. is to preserve our rich maritime heritage through dynamic and historically accurate re-creations of significant nautical events. These carefully choreographed re-enactments are true to detail in context, costuming and action. Utilizing a talented crew of performers and exact replicas including, Jolly Boats, Military Uniforms, Flintlock Pistols, Swords and Cannons, these sensational performances always captivate and delight audiences of all ages while preserving the integrity of the historical event portrayed. The Naval Historical Education Foundation works directly with the Ocean Institute to design a historical program that is not only an extraordinary representation, but is also appropriate for the Toshiba Tall Ships Festival.
