Celebration on Tuesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. Benefits American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ladera Ranch 2013
Mission Viejo, Calif. – July 17, 2013 – Americans are expected to eat an estimated seven billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. THE POUND, a new street-stand style hot dog eatery at Kaleidoscope Center located at 27741 Crown Valley Parkway just off the 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo, is honoring the iconic food’s very own month by holding its Grand Opening Celebration during National Hot Dog Month, Tues., July 23, 2013 at 11 a.m.
The Grand Opening will include food sampling, entertainment and giveaways. Also on the 23rd, THE POUND will donate 20 percent of the day’s sales to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ladera Ranch, which THE POUND owners have been a part of for the last two years. Funds raised for all Relays go directly to ACS to fight cancer through prevention, research, education and awareness. Relay For Life is ACS’s largest fundraising event. “We are pleased to provide our customers with a fun slice of Americana cuisine at Kaleidoscope to complement the existing great variety of eateries while helping the community around us through our work at the Relay For Life of Ladera Ranch,” said Dan and Dawn Lauriano, Owners. “Part New York City hot dog cart, part mid-American burger diner, THE POUND is delicious and fun for the Orange County diverse Kaleidoscope Center.”
THE POUND is a fast-casual counter service with a made-to-order format where customers dress their dogs, burgers and fries with its customized order sheets. The “Dog Tag” in the logo is a symbol of THE POUND’s ongoing promotion. Custom dog tags will be given to customers who add the “secret ingredient of the day” to one of their dog or burger creations. The custom dog tag will entitle the winning customer to a 10 percent discount anytime they wear the necklace to THE POUND. THE POUND also honors U.S. Military service men and women by offering a 10 percent appreciation discount to those who show their real dog tags.
