The Prayer Breakfast is at 7:30 a.m. at the Mission Viejo Country Club, 26200 Country Club Drive.
The breakfast is in honor of the “National Day of Prayer,” which was designated as the first Thursday of May and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on May 5, 1988.
A year later, the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo decided to sponsor the first annual “Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast” including former Mayor Bill Craycraft, who recently passed away.
The breakfast, which took place at the old Holiday Inn in Laguna Hills, attracted roughly 300 people and featured then Orange County Supervisor Gaddi Vasquez as the keynote speaker.
Many years later, the tradition is still going strong. This year’s breakfast will feature gospel choir and spiritual leaders emphasizing the theme of diversity.
Cost is $25. Reservations are available at http:// www.MissionViejoRotary.org.
