The public is invited to a free multi-media Native American flute performance from the times of the Lewis and Clark Expedition on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The city of Aliso Viejo and Soka Performing Arts Center are joining forces to host the “Along the River” musical event with flutist Gary Stroutsos from 1:30 to 3 p.m at the Aliso Viejo Conference Center, 31 Santa Barbara Drive.
With backgrounds in American jazz, Afro-Cuban and American Indian music, Stroutsos pushes the boundaries of original flute music that’s recorded today. Since 1994, Gary has produced and recorded more than 10 albums and has been featured throughout the world on NPR-syndicated programs “Echoes” with John Diliberto and Skitch Henderson’s “New York Evening at the Pops.” His music has also been featured on the Ken Burns PBS documentary “Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery,” which led to a command performance at the White House for President Bill Clinton.
A question-and-answer session and light refreshments will follow Gary’s presentation. Limited seating is available for this intimate performance. The city of Aliso Viejo is proud to sponsor this free adult program.
