4TH GRADE STAR WRITING TEST, TUESDAY MARCH 5: Bergeson 4th graders will be participating in California’s Writing Standards Test on Tuesday, March 5. Students in grade 4 may be asked to write a narrative, a response to literature, or a summary. Bergeson Elementary is participating with all other schools in the state in this program that is designed to provide students, parents, teachers, and the community with information about fourth-grade students’ achievement in writing. Your child needs to attend school on testing day (Tuesday, March 5). The only make-up day that the state will allow is Wednesday, March 6. It is important that students do their best to increase the accuracy of the results. On testing day we are asking that there be no parent volunteers in fourth grade classrooms. Every effort will be made to assure an optimal testing environment for our students. You are a vital partner in the testing process and can help by:
- · Making sure your child has plenty of rest the night before testing ·
- · Ensuring that your child arrives at school on time and is ready for testing
- · Providing a nutritious breakfast on testing day
- · Helping your child view the test as an important opportunity to show what he or she has learned
- · Encouraging your child to do his or her very best
Parents will receive detailed reports related to their child’s performance on this test. Group results by grade level for each school, district, county and the state will be posted on the Internet in August, 2012. Thank you for your assistance in preparing your child for this testing experience.
