UP, UP AND AWAY! PACIFIC SYMPHONY’S FAMILY MUSICAL MORNINGS JETS OFF WITH “SUPERHEROES!” FEATURING POPULAR FILM MUSIC FROM

Date:

“SUPERMAN” AND “STAR WARS”

Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superheroes, and may submit artwork for display at the concert by March 4

Pacific Symphony suits up for an action-packed musical adventure of crime-fighting fun as Family Musical Mornings continues with “Superheroes!” By harnessing the power of music, Captain Symphony (Daniel Emmett) and his family of superheroes, The Winged Woodwind (Diane Manaster) and Super String (Stephanie Draude), defeat the malevolent Percussionator (Ron Banks), who is trying to tear apart the orchestra!

Led by Assistant Conductor Alejandro Gutiérrez, the Symphony creates a rousing atmosphere with selections from Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Russian Easter” Overture.

Written and directed by Joe Lauderdale (creator of “A Sherlock Holmes Halloween” and “A Halloween Masquerade”), the concert teaches children about the different instrument families, how they make sound and how the orchestra works together.

Each superhero and their corresponding instrument family have their own musical theme from John Williams’ “Star Wars,” and at the end, they all come together to perform this masterwork, as well as the March from “Superman.”

The audience also has the opportunity to hear the talented musicians from Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, who join the Symphony onstage for their annual side-by-side performance.

Presented by Farmers and Merchants Bank, the concert is designed for families with children ages 5-11, and takes place Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Tickets are $19-39; for more information or to purchase tickets call (714) 755-5799 or visitwww.PacificSymphony.org.
