The following are upcoming April school events for John Malcom Elementary:
*** 4/15 – Family Movie Night ***
Join us on Friday, April 15th at 6:30PM to watch the movie Tangled on a giant 40 foot screen out on Malcom’s field. Bring a beach chair and a blanket and join your friends and family for this Friday night of fun. The gate opens at 6:30PM, and the movie will begin at 7:00PM. Popcorn, water, and candy can be purchased at $1.00 each. Admission is free.
*** 4/18 – 4/21, Spring Book Fair ***
The Spring Book Fair Carnival is in town at John Malcom Elementary School – Monday, April 18th through Thursday, the 21st! We have an incredible selection of books available under the big top!
Also, to kick off our Book Fair Carnival, Family Carnival Night will be held on Monday night, April 18th from 5PM-7:00PM, with an inflatable slide for kids to ride. For every book a child purchases, they will receive a ticket to ride the slide. Additionally, that evening guest readers will provide story time for families. Students that participate in story time will also receive a ticket for an inflatable slide ride. Snow Cones will be sold for $1.00 each.
The book fair is held in the Multi-Purpose Room, around the corner from the main office, and is open to the community. So, don’t clown around…come on by for some Book Fair fun!
*** 4/25 – 4/29 – TV Turnoff Week ***
During the week of Monday, April 25th through Friday, April 29th, Malcom Elementary will participate in TV Turnoff Week. This week, participating students will turn off televisions, video games, and computers (except for school related assignments). Instead, they’ll participate in other activities, like going for a walk or hike, riding a bike, reading a book, or getting together with friends. Enjoy a week without the screen…you’ll be amazed at what else is out there!
*** 4/29 – 3rd Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser Event ***
Rally Round Residential Support!!! Please join us Friday April 29th, 6:30-8:30pm, at Monarch Beach Market for a kick-off to our spring direct drive for dollars. Tickets are $50.00 per person for a wonderful evening of wine tasting and raffle prizes. Friends of Malcom is a non-profit, independent organization with the flexibility to annually evaluate spending priorities and raise funds accordingly. All donations are tax-deductable. “We’re ALL IN for Education!”
*** 4/30, Kids Run the OC Marathon ***
On Saturday, April 30th, Malcom Elementary is pleased to participate again this year in the 7th Annual Kids Run the OC Marathon. Malcom Milers have been training in a 12-week on-campus program since February, led by Coach Bob Morris. By the end of the training program, each student will have accumulated the equivalent of 25.2 miles through various games and activities and hopefully have increased their knowledge regarding healthy food choices and good eating habits. Students will then be ready to finish their “marathon” by participating in The OC Marathon “Kids Run the OC Marathon 1-Mile Run” on Saturday, April 30th at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA.
