OCTOBER 2012
HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR RETURNS: SeaWorld is getting into the spirit of Halloween again this year with a not-too-scary celebration that combines family-friendly activities and special entertainment. Halloween Spooktacular brings children’s “fanta-seas” to life with enchanted pathways, charming sea creatures and the most unique trick-or-treating venue in town. Making its return this year is SeaWorld’s “The Search for Captain Lucky’s Treasure,” a walk-through adventure adjacent to Cirque Stadium; Penelope’s Pumpkinfish Patch at the Seaport Marketplace lawn adjacent to Animal Connections; and “Clyde & Seamore’s Spooky Adventure” at Sea Lion and Otter Stadium. “Clyde & Seamore’s Spooky Adventure” is a specially-themed show where Clyde, Seamore and O.P. Otter go on a madcap adventure to Uncle Schmedley’s Castle.
In addition, guests can meet a variety of animals at Animal Connections by Seaport Marketplace, pose with mermaids at the Mermaid’s Grotto located at the Main Gate area and watch “Pirates 4-D,” a wacky film adventure about a pirate captain and his bumbling crew at the park’s Mission Bay Theater. Kids are invited to come in costume and enjoy Sesame Street performances, and trick-or-treat at 13 different stations around the park among a sea-inspired atmosphere, which includes friendly sea witches, octopuses, schools of fish and more. SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular, which is included in park admission, operates from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and runs weekends in October (on Oct. 31, guests can enjoy “Clyde & Seamore’s Spooky Adventure” show and the “Pirates 4-D” movie). “Clyde & Seamore’s Spooky Adventure” runs daily in October.
MISSION POSSIBLE: CLEAN THE BAY DAY WITH SEAWORLD:In its continued commitment to keeping the ocean clean, SeaWorld is teaming up with San Diego Coastkeeper for an inaugural beach cleanup of Mission Bay on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Rose Marie Starns South Shores Park. Because less debris floating in the ocean may mean fewer animal entanglements, SeaWorld’s own animal care team will be on the water to help with cleanup efforts. Recreational and commercial boaters will be joining in along as well, with a shoreline cleanup for those on land. Participants can compete as an individual or team for a chance to win prizes, including year-long passes to SeaWorld, animal interactions and more.
KIDS FREE MONTH AT SEAWORLD SAN DIEGO: Throughout October, SeaWorld San Diego on picturesque Mission Bay is offering one child (age 3–9) free admission into the park with one full-paid adult admission. Kids between 10 and 12 may also participate for free in SeaWorld’s Dolphin Encounter and Dolphin and Beluga Interaction Programs with one paid-adult participation (kids must be at least 48” tall to participate). The same offer is valid at Dine with Shamu.

Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment, inspired by the beloved Caldecott Medal children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. During 12-minute presentations of “The Polar Express 4-D Experience” at SeaWorld’s Mission Bay Theater, guests will feel like they’re aboard the Polar Express themselves, with amazing multi-sensory effects including snow, gusts of wind and the smell of hot chocolate! “The Polar Express 4-D Experience” will run Nov. 17–Jan. 5.
