Upcoming March 2011 Events at John Malcom Elementary School – Laguna Niguel

The following are upcoming March, 2011 school events for John Malcom Elementary:

*** 2/28 – 3/4, Read Across America Week***

During the week of February 28th – March 4th, John Malcom Elementary will be celebrating Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’s Birthday! Students are invited to join in on the celebration by participating in the following activities:

Monday, 2/28: Fox in Sox – Crazy Socks Day
Tuesday, 3/1: The Lorax – Wear green, Recycle your water bottles
Wednesday, 3/2: The Cat in the Hat – Crazy Hat Day
Thursday, 3/3: Green Eggs and Ham – Bring green snacks and lunch
Friday, 3/4: Oh, The Places You’ll Go – Wear clothing from a place you have visited, lived or would like to visit.

*** 3/2 – School Book Swap ***

Our 12th annual Malcom Book Swap will take place on Wednesday, March 2nd this year! Students who turned in used books last week will be able to choose from the selection collected. Kids can select the same number of books recorded on their BOOK SWAP coupon. Parents are welcome to join their children at their designated time.

*** 3/3 – Chick-Fil-A Fundraiser ***

Malcom Elementary Fundraiser Night at Chick-Fil-A is on Thursday, March 3rd, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (Crown Valley Parkway and Greenfield – Laguna Niguel) Come in (or drive-thru) and mention that you are with Malcom Elementary, and the school will earn 20% of the purchase! No flyer required! Ask for the receipt, write your teacher’s name on the back and turn it in. Your class could win a free Chick-fil-A kid’s meal for everyone!

*** 3/10, 3/12 – Tile Days at Malcom ***

On Thursday, March 10th, from 12:50PM – 3:50PM, and Saturday, March 12th, from 9:00AM – Noon, Malcom students and their families will have an opportunity to paint tiles for our school. These tiles will create a lasting memory as they will be added to our growing gallery of tiles that decorate our school hallways. Tiles are $25.00 each, or two for $40.00.

*** 3/16, 3/18 – Presidential Fitness Testing ***

Malcom’s 7th Annual Presidential Fitness Challenge test event is going to be held on Wednesday, March 16, and Friday, March 18, 2011. This program focuses on improving the five fitness skills which are the core for many physical education activities and student fitness. These skills are curl-ups, shuttle run, pull-ups, V-sit/reach, and the endurance run. Students have been practicing these skills in their class during their physical education time. Our goal is to have every child improve his or her fitness level this year.

*** 3/25 – Malcom Jog-A-Thon ***

Aloha Malcom Mariners! Grab your running shoes and get ready to jog for the Aloha!! Mark your calendars, as March 25th is our 17th annual school Jog-A-Thon! This is a great event for the kids and a great way to raise money for our school.

*** 3/29 – Car Raffle ***

Car Raffle Benefits Malcom! Thanks to a generous donation by Capistrano Toyota/Scion, the CARE Foundation is selling tickets for a chance to win a 2011 Toyota Prius. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the CARE Foundation AND Malcom! $15 of each ticket purchased can be designated to your favorite CUSD school or program. Tickets are one for $50 or three for $125.
