Tim Telles owner of Tribeca a Destination Salon in Aliso Viejo was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” for his work at The Village of Hope in Tustin.www.rescuemission.org.
The volunteer recognition luncheon was put on by Tustin Community Foundation. One of Tim’s clients told him that a Salon was being built at the Shelter. He checked it out. Tim got on the horn and called different reps. He researched Salon styling chairs and shampoo bowl chairs. “I wanted them donated but was shut down” says Tim.
Then one day he was cutting someone’s hair and told her about what was needed. She said let me talk to my husband and I will get back to you. She called the next day and told him to order them. Then Tim put the word out that they needed haircolor, shampoo,conditioner,styling products along with other beauty supplies.
The reps who come to Tribeca Salon spread the word around and they started getting beauty supplies delivered to The Village of Hope.Then Tim called on friends in the industry to volunteer one day a month at the Village of Hope. The Salon now has 4 chairs and 2 shampoo bowls.
The Shelter houses 200 men,women and children who all need their hair done. Most of the women have not had their hair professionally done in many years. They were using box color from the market.”They are so appreciative when I cut and color their hair” says Tim.
“Time to give back to people who have fallen on hard times”. Volunteers are still needed to keep the Salon open 3 days a week. Tribeca a Destination Salon in Aliso Viejo knows what it takes to run a successful Hair Salon. Tim and Treeny Telles are the proud owner operators of Tribeca. Tim comes from a family of hairdressers. His father was a barber for 47 years. Tim has 4 brothers that all cut hair along with a couple of Uncles,cousins and nieces . Tim and Treeny have a daughter who cuts hair in SF.
As soon as you walk in Tribeca you are greeted with a smile. Customer service is number one. First impression is very important. “We came from a Salon that the front desk did not care who came in” says Tim. Tribeca makes you feel very comfortable.
A clean Salon is also very important. We have a cleaning person at the Salon 45 hours a week. “And I still dust and wipe counters off during the day” says Tim. We offer Italian coffees, cookies, cokes, spa water and more. To be successful you must do great Hair and offer great customer service.With the economy down a lot of Salons are discounting their services to get new clients. We found thru the years coupon cutters just look for deals and jump from coupon to coupon, I do not want our stylists to give away their work. We have classes all the time to stay fresh. My advice is treat every client in your chair like they are a movie star. Without them we would be out of a job.
