WATERCOLOR AND EARLY CALIFORNIA ART ARE TOPICS OF INTEREST AS “ART TALKS: A LECTURE SERIES” CONTINUES AT THE FESTIVAL OF ARTS
Tuesday 7/10/12 Festival watercolorists lead conversations about their medium, and on Thursday 7/12/12 it’s all about early California art.
Laguna Beach, CA – Watercolor and early California art grace the Festival green this week as Art Talks: A Lecture Series continues to offer new views and understanding to Festival visitors.
On Tuesday July 10th from 12pm-1pm, Festival of Arts exhibitor Kirsten Whalen leads an exploration of the watercolor medium – where it has been, where it is and where it’s going. Fellow exhibitors David Milton, Roger Folk and Geri Medway join the discussion with a multitude of perspectives.
On Thursday July 12th from 12pm-1pm Mark Hilbert, longtime collector of early California art, shares his extraordinary collection comprised of paintings that offer a non-verbal communication of “People, Places and Memories” through the eyes of regionalist artists. Some of his collection can be viewed in two Art Published books, “The Good Life” and in “Millard Sheets”.
Art Talks: A Lecture Series continues throughout the Festival of Arts 2012 season. On Tuesdays, experienced artists will take attendees through topics of medium, influences, and current trends; on Thursdays, Orange County’s top curators, collectors, and conservators will lead discussions on issues of buying, appraising, displaying, restoring and conserving fine art. Brown bag lunches from Gina’s will be available for purchase or you can bring your own! Art Talks: A Lecture Series is free with Festival admission.
