Artist Fund Postcard Fundraiser Features Mystery Artists
LAGUNA BEACH – October 29, 2012 – More than 200 artistic postcards will be sold at Postcards with a Purpose, Sunday November 4th, 2-5pm at The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach. The festive event features free admission and parking, along with complimentary popcorn, pop, and pinot for buyers. Proceeds from sales benefit The Artists Fund at Festival of Arts and The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach.
All art works measure 5×7 inches, with prices ranging from $25 to $80. Offerings include a junior artist selection, traditional oils, three-dimensional reliefs, printmaking, collages, and zany graffiti drawings in crayon and ink. Featured are works by noted professional artists such as Michael Obermeyer and David Milton, as well as items by industry leaders such as Diane Challis Davy, director of Pageant of the Masters, and Malcolm Warner of Laguna Art Museum. Fans of television’s Criminal Minds drama will seek out originals by Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Kirsten Vangsness.
To add to the fun and suspense, buyers will pick works based on aesthetics alone – artist’s names will only be revealed after purchase. “We’re expecting lots of screams, oohs and aahs,” said Rosemary Swimm, who is co-chairing the event with Mia Moore. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as the first hour is a preview exhibition followed by immediate sales on a first-come, first-served basis. All items will be sold.
