What’s happening at SeaWorld San Diego

Date:

SeaWorld Inside Look returns the first two weekends in September with special opportunities focused “Animal Care: See What the Vets See,” including behind-the-scenes access at several areas, including the hospital and rescue areas of SeaWorld’s Animal Health and Rescue Center, a behind-the-scenes beluga whale pool and an above-view of the orca pools. Inside Look, which is open to any park visitor and is included with park admission, will take place Sept. 7–8 and Sept. 14–15.

On Sept. 21, SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular kicks off, with 10 free trick or treat stations, the Sesame Street Halloween Parade, Clyde & Seamore’s Big Halloween Bash sea lion and otter show and more. New this year: guests can use a special scavenger hunt map to find ocean-inspired pumpkins throughout the park. Halloween Spooktacular continues on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 27.

Spread across 190 acres on beautiful Mission Bay Park, SeaWorld is known for spectacular animal shows, interactive attractions, aquariums, rides and education programs for all ages:

Animal attractions include Orca Encounter, a live documentary-style presentation with a Pacific Northwest-themed backdrop at SeaWorld’s main orca pool, reflecting the natural world of killer whales; Turtle Reef,  280,000-gallon turtle aquarium, interactive game, touch-screen turtle map and ride; Shark Encounter with nearly a dozen species of sharks; Penguin Encounter with nearly 400 penguins representing six species; Otter Outlook, featuring rescued California sea otters swimming and foraging in their habitat; and Wild Arctic with beluga whales, walruses and seals.

Shows include Sea Lions LIVE, a hilarious sketch-based comedy show starring California sea lions Clyde and Seamore; and Dolphin Days, featuring bottlenose dolphins and a pilot whale.

Rides include the world’s first horizontal, infinity-loop coaster, Tidal Twister; Electric Eel, San Diego’s tallest and fastest roller coaster; Manta, a multi-media, double-launch coaster; Journey to Atlantis, a wet and wild water coaster; and Shipwreck Rapids water raft ride.
