
Winner Will Compete in Ms. Senior America Pageant

Westminster, CA – The California Senior America Pageant is proud to announce that fourteen contestants from all over California will be competing for the coveted title of Ms. Senior California 2014 on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, CA.

The theme this year is “Encore!”; the women who will be competing in the pageant are Suzanne Goodrich from Rancho Santa Margarita, Judy Lamppu and Sandra Erkus from Granada Hills, Syni Champion and Lanan Clark from Sacramento, Bonnie Deming and Joyce Schumaker from San Diego, Elaine Brammell from Carlsbad, Merilee Imamoto from Penn Valley, Rebecca Morse from Altadena, Lea London from Marina del Rey, Dr. Gayla Jackson from Moorpark, Patee Spurlock from Oceanside and Angie Kardashian from Tustin.
Each contestant competing in this year’s pageant either won a regional title or was first runner up in one of the seven preliminary pageants that were held around the State. “The pageant allows our women to stay vital and connected with life! They are able to share their ‘joy of living’ with others while remaining visible in their communities”, said Pamela Wheeler, CEO, Ms. Senior California
The Pageant is open to women who have reached the “age of elegance” – 60 years of age and up. The Pageant seeks to elevate Baby Boomer women as well as senior women, encouraging them to be role models for their peers and younger generations. Pageant competition is based on an interview, modeling an evening gown, sharing of a philosophy of life statement, and talent.
The winner of Ms. Senior California, will go, all expenses paid, to compete in the 2014 Ms. Senior America Pageant held October 2014 in Atlanta City.
Reigning Ms. Senior California Alise Richel is from Santa Monica. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and studied with great conductors from the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera as well as conductors from LaScala. She studied in the Opera Department at Tanglewood under the auspices of Leonard Bernstein. She also studied in the Opera Workshop at Columbia University; her rehearsal pianist was John Kander who went on to write greats such as “New York, New York.” She married and raised two children and continued her love for singing. Years later she moved to Los Angeles to be near her son and is now teaching vocal students. Currently she is writing a book based on her approach to the art of singing. Two years ago, Alise married Dr. Fred Adler a retired aerospace executive.
Since 1972, the Ms. Senior America – as well as all state chapters – has held to the philosophy that seniors are the foundation of America and should be considered one of its most valuable treasures. They believe that through their knowledge, experiences, and resources, the younger generations of America have the opportunity to build a better society.
Ms. Senior California of America, Inc. was established as a non-profit corporation in 2010 and is affiliated with Ms. Senior America, Inc., founded in 1971.
