In the summer of 1869, John Muir sketched and hiked the wondrous wild spaces of California, observing that “when we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”
Iridescent hummingbirds wings, wispy dandelions, and majestic trees come to life in BLOOM, as we celebrate the beauty of the natural world with a new dance theatre work featuring 16 college dancers, an art gallery display of student work, and two mini-talks by Dr Morgan Barrows, chair of Environmental Studies and Robert Farnsworth, co-chair of Horticulture & Landscape Design.
From a blossoming ballet of poppies to a magical migration of Monarch butterfly dancers, ecology serves as the inspiration for our production; join us in the Studio Theatre for an evening exploring the beauty of California through movement, text and projections!
