More than 30 youth from around the world will take part in Mission Viejo’s 8th annual USTA/ITF Junior Wheelchair Camp of the Americas July 6-12.
The camp, the only one of its kind on the South and North American continents, takes place at the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion, which will also host the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Master Series – Wheelchair Doubles World Championships in November.
This year, 31 wheelchair-bound athletes from North, South and Central America will learn about and train in the sport of tennis. Some of the nation’s top coaches will lead the camp, and match players will participate in a tournament for ITF Junior Ranking points.
The public is invited to cheer the players on as they learn new skills, meet new friends and have fun. The camp takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday, the kids will enjoy a trip to Universal Studios.
The Marguerite Recreation Center is located at 27474 Casta Del Sol.
