On Saturday April 25, 2015 up to 500 local volunteers will be packaging meals for the needy internationally via a partnership with the “Stop Hunger Now” organization.  Local volunteers are currently funding each meal via a months-long donation campaign with a local goal of raising funds to donate 75,000 or more meals via this program.

Each meal costs $.29 and is funded through generous community donations at amounts large and small.

To date, local members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Laguna Niguel Stake) have contributed over $20,000 to purchase meals to be packaged at this event.

Other donations from the general community are welcome and encouraged to assist at:

About “Stop Hunger Now”

Since we were founded in 1998, we have provided over 180 million meals in 65 countries.This year, we will package 45 million meals, and ship over $9 million in donated aid, mainly vitamins and medical supplies.

Based in Raleigh, N.C., we operate meal-packaging programs at 19 cities in the U.S. and in South Africa, Malaysia, India, Italy and the Philippines.

We have engaged over 500,000 corporate, student, civic and faith-based volunteers in meal-packaging. In just under two hours, a group of 30 to 40 volunteers can package 10,000 nutrient-rich meals for the undernourished globally. We also educate volunteers about hunger and inspire them to help end it.

JustServe.org is provided as a service by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following the Biblical admonition to “love thy neighbor as thyself,” JustServe provides opportunities to relieve suffering, care for the poor and needy, and enhance the quality of life in the community. What is Helping Hands?

The Mormon Helping Hands program was established in 1998, and since then hundreds of thousands of volunteers have donated millions of hours of service to their communities. The program started in South America but has since spread to nearly every corner of the world.

The Mormon Helping Hands program brings together members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their neighbors to provide community service. These volunteers in their trademark yellow shirts help people whose lives have been affected by natural disasters and other emergencies. Mormon Helping Hands volunteers also partner with government and nonprofit organizations to support and improve the communities where they live.
