Aliso Viejo’s planning director named
Albert Armijo has been named Aliso Viejo’s planning director, City Manager Mark Pulone announced today.
Armijo has served as the city’s interim planning director since March 2, following former Planning Director Genia Garcia’s retirement.
Armijo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the post having worked in the public and private sectors. He worked with the County of Orange and consulted for municipalities and developers in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego counties. Before accepting the interim post, Armijo consulted for the city on the Vantis development.
Armijo is charged with overseeing the city’s planning department, which includes processing administrative and discretionary permit applications, updating the city’s housing element, revising the zoning code and conducting research related to long-term and existing projects for the city.
