LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS  APPOINTS JASON DAUNTER AS ITS NEW THEATRE DIRECTOR

After launching an extensive search across the country, LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is thrilled to announce that effective immediately, Jason Daunter has been hired as its new Theatre Director.

Mr. Daunter’s responsibilities as its Theatre Director will include planning, organizing, and managing all aspects of the theatre, its rehearsal hall, and the staff of the acclaimed and highly regarded institution.

Jason Daunter celebrates 25 years in the professional theatre having started his career at Stages St. Louis under Michael Hamilton and Jack Lane. Daunter’s Broadway and touring credits as a Production Stage Manager/Production Supervisor include WickedTo Kill a MockingbirdA Gentleman’s Guide to Love and MurderWest Side StoryShuffle AlongA Doll’s House, Part 2Meteor ShowerChicagoJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamcoatThoroughly Modern MillieA Christmas Carol, and Cyrano de Bergerac.  He has worked alongside acclaimed entertainment luminaries Kevin Kline, Jeff Daniels, Laurie Metcalf, Meryl Streep, Bryan Cranston, Calista Flockhart, Laura Benanti, Amy Schumer, and the incomparable Chita Rivera.

Regionally Daunter has collaborated with the Geffen Playhouse (Power of Sail, The Inheritance), Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (2015 Season), The Muny (100th Anniversary), Carnegie Hall, and Stages St. Louis (5 Seasons).  He has worked with Segerstrom Center for the Arts as a Project Producer most recently developing their 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Center which they will celebrate in September and creating the masterclass series for students in Orange County featuring Michael Buble and Hugh Jackman. 

He served as Producing Director for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and Creative Director for the American Theatre Wing’s Obie Awards.  Daunter is equally recognized for his longstanding philanthropic and advocacy work in arts education.  As a product of educational theatre, he has appeared as a Keynote Speaker nationwide for high schools and colleges and served as Artistic Director for the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) where he served on the Governing Board from 2011 to 2015.  There he developed signature programs celebrating student theatre and forged collaborations with Stephen Schwartz, Alan Menken, and Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.  He also served on the Advisory Board of the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF).  He is the recipient of EdTA’s President’s Award and Founder’s Award.  He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Foundation for Stage Managers.  Daunter holds a Bachelors of Science in Theatre from Northwest Missouri State University.  Most recently, Daunter worked with Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment on the launch of the Disney Destiny cruise ship. 

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is located at 14900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue where the 91 and 5 freeways meet.  Parking is always FREE.
