Updated traffic plans to accommodate Thursday’s high school graduation ceremony

Plans to ease congestion during Thursday’s graduation ceremony at Aliso Niguel High School have been slightly altered to accommodate new information relayed to the city today regarding shuttle bus schedules. The Aliso Niguel High School graduation ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. June 18. Wolverine Way, Deerhurst, Pacific Park Drive and Aliso Creek Road will be heavily impacted by graduation traffic from 4:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Offsite parking and shuttle bus service is available at the Chet Holifield (Ziggurat) Federal Building, 24000 Avila Road, Laguna Niguel. Shuttle buses will transport families and guests to the high school from 1:45 to 5 p.m. Shuttle buses will return families and guests trip to the Holifield building from 6 to 7 p.m., according to school officials. The bus stop to return to the federal building is located on Deerhurst, behind the football stadium.

The public should be aware of the following information:

Limited parking at the high school is available behind the portables at the south end of campus or in the staff parking lot. Vehicles should enter the school parking lot via Wolverine Way from Aliso Creek Road before 4:30 p.m.

The stadium parking lot entrance at Deerhurst is only reserved for VIP and handicap parking.

After graduation, vehicles parked in the stadium parking lot for VIP or handicap parking will only be allowed to turn right onto Deerhurst.

Vehicles cannot access Wolverine Way from Aliso Creek Road or Aliso Viejo Parkway from 4:30 until 7:15 p.m. Parking is allowed on Aliso Viejo Parkway for graduation.

After graduation, right turns from Wolverine Way onto Aliso Creek Road will be prohibited in order to accommodate pedestrians.

Drivers are asked to be patient and drive safely during the annual event.
