News From The Performers Academy – Natalie Costa

Date:

Hi:

Hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July holiday!

We are back in full swing with a lot of new stuff to do and talk about.

As you know, we have agents on site weekly. A great number of them are my close and personal friends – as I have been doing this – going on my 11th year.

In a series of weekly calls with a group of agents today – we have come to this conclusion…..

If you post-pone or put your class here on hold for the summer season, sports season, etc. I am now to forward this information off to them. They feel, as I do, if your schedule doesn’t allow time for workshops – then they want to be notified – asap.

This is no different from sports – you can’t show up to play the game if you don’t attend the practice.

A notification from Children in Film came out today stressing the importance of workshops – even for the very young.

The industry is more competitive now than ever. Just this morning – major actors like Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Vartan are doing cable TV. Billy Zane (Titanic), Gary Sinese, Faye Dunaway, and more are working on episodic television shows….where a few years ago – they wouldn’t get caught dead on TV.

Actors are finding the films paying SAG ultra-low rates – like $100 per day….because the work is slim – and the talent pool huge.

So out of respect to your agent – who works on commission – they don’t want to be bothered submitting when the talent is not working on their craft.

Now on to some great stuff:
Harrison Webb booked two huge commercials…..

Independent Submissions:
I am going through headshots today and will send off a bunch to Mavrick, TAG, and CESD of talent that we feel should have representation.

TAG will give me re-schedule dates for those of you who missed her initial callback date.

No word yet on Jerry Pace callbacks.

MUSICAL THEATRE APPRECIATION CLASS is in the works in addition to our:

JACKSON FIVE/MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE
This will include male/female cast. Flyers are around the studio so pick one up – auditions are in August – 3rd and 5th
Everyone gets a role – and the music should be amazing.

BRENT HUFF WILL BE HERE TEACHING THIS SATURDAY AND MONDAY: July 11th and July 13th.
He’s a film director – check him out on IMDB. I know that there are many new students here that are now aware of him…..
He filmed a movie called Welcome to Paradise and 200 people from this school were in the film. It’s rentable on Netflix and Blockbuster – stars Brian Dennehey and Crystal Bernard…..

If you haven’t taken his class in a while or ever – he will be here this Saturday sub-ing for Jeff and sub-ing Monday for Musetta.

THIS WEEKEND’S AGENT IS
OSBRINK:
They represent Dakota and Elle Fanning…..
I would not miss this one if you can.

MUSICAL THEATRE SUMMER CAMP IS BEING OFFERED AT HUGE DISCOUNTS….it’s our stimulus plan!
$150 for the week – and we have great shows lined up.

Hope everyone has a great week.
