Several people participated this past Monday.
Nearly 50 people laced up their tennis shoes and joined Councilman Bill Phillips, City Manager Mark Pulone and others for a summer trek around the city’s Town Center Loop Trail.
Monday’s walk kicked off the city’s Summer Walking Program that celebrates the recent completion of the Town Center Loop Pedestrian Enhancement Project, which is designed to improve the pedestrian experience around Aliso Viejo Town Center.
Upcoming walks will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 13, 20 and 27. Monday’s walk took participants on a leisurely 2.1-mile trek. To kick things up a notch, walkers will expand their journey and enjoy a 3.1-mile jaunt next week.
The goal of the program is to give people an opportunity to explore and enjoy Aliso Viejo’s landscape while getting a dose of exercise.
Participants are encouraged to park and meet at 6:15 p.m. in front of the On the Border restaurant. The restaurant, located in Aliso Viejo Town Center near Enterprise, is at 26661 Aliso Creek Road. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring water.
