The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter, honored its top fundraisers for Light the Night 2009 at an exclusive event in the Diamond Club at Angel Stadium on November 19.
Among the attendees was Greg Trayer of Aliso Viejo, whose family team raised $10,470 for blood cancer research. Special guests included Angels baseball legend Rod Carew and Dennis Kuhl, president of Angels Baseball. At the event, 46 members were inducted into Club 29 – a special club for people who raised $2,900 or more this year named for Rod Carew’s jersey number when he played for the Angels. In total, these 46 individuals raised more than $248,343.
Light the Night is an annual fundraising walk held nationwide to raise awareness of blood cancers and money towards a cure; locally, the walk is held at Angel Stadium and California Baptist University, Riverside.
