Woodfield Drive is temporarily closed while city crews assess the situation and make appropriate repairs to pavement damaged during heavy rains.
Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, water damaged a manhole and made its way under pavement causing damage to about 400 to 500 feet of street. Woodfield Drive, which leads to Woodfield Park, is closed until repairs can be completed within in the near future. The city is working diligently to get the work scheduled and completed.
Information about the condition of Woodfield Park and other parks in town is available by calling the Aliso Viejo Community Association at 949-243-7410.
In other rain-related news, Tuesday’s storms caused downed trees, missing manhole covers and some mud flow off the 73 toll road right-a-way.
With today’s rain expected to be the most potent storm in the series, the Orange County Fire Authority is encouraging residents to clear their rain gutters and, if needed, place sandbags in critical areas ahead of time.
For sandbag information, visit http://www.ocfa.org/pages/ocfa.asp?filename=st-sandbags.asp.
Fire stations in Laguna Woods and Laguna Niguel have sandbags and the sand to fill them. Fire Station 49 in Laguna Niguel is at 31461 Street of the Golden Lantern and Fire Station 22 in Laguna Woods/Laguna Hills is at 24001 Paseo de Valencia.
