San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is offering free shredding services at the following three convenient locations from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 20: Eastlake Branch at 2280 Otay Lakes Road in Chula Vista; the SDCCU Operations Center at 6545 Sequence Dr. in Mira Mesa.; and Saddleback College at 28000 Marguerite Pkwy. in Mission Viejo.
“We encourage the community to take advantage of this free and convenient opportunity to dispose of confidential documents,” said Teresa Halleck Campbell, SDCCU President, and CEO. “With the high prevalence of fraud in recent years, we are proud to offer this convenient service to help protect the members of our community.”
The first 200 people at each location who take advantage of SDCCU’s free shredding services will receive a free gift. The public is invited to bring a maximum of two boxes containing personal and confidential information to have it shredded on the spot at no charge.
SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled over 4 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving more than 34,000 trees (every 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree).
