CASINO NIGHT

March 27 will be a wonderfully special evening for Bergeson families and friends who attend our Casino Night Gala at 6 PM at the SOKA University Arts Gallery. With the impending budget cuts, you can make a difference to help provide a first-class education for our children. Because it’s so important to have more of you at this event for our school, the Casino Night ticket price will remain at $65 up until the event. Please sign up ONLINE atwww.BergesonFoundation.ORG today!

If you can’t make it, there are many other ways to contribute. You could donate any amount directly to the Bergeson Foundation OR you can BID on the merchandise and services (which have a total value of more than $20,000) that were generously donated by our local businesses to help our school. For most items, the online auction will close on Tuesday, and the rest will close AT the Casino Night Gala. EVERYONE has a chance to get spectacular deals. Just go to www.BergesonFoundation.ORG. Our kids and teachers NEED your BIDS and your support.

You could also purchase Raffle tickets for a $2000 Diamond Necklace or Napa Valley Wine Tasting Weekend. Raffle tickets can be purchased prior to and during Casino Night for $25 ea. The flyer went home today.

Without your participation in our fundraising, our school’s ability to provide extra programs is in danger. Our computer lab, the music and science lab program, our additional math program and other supplies and equipment are some of the programs in jeopardy. That’s why the funds raised by this event are so critical for our school.

Please remember, Casino Night Tickets can be purchased at www.BERGESONFOUNDATION.ORG and the ONLINE AUCTION CLOSES TUESDAY – so visit this, place your BIDS and make a difference for OUR KIDS!!

For more information, please contact Caprice Crebar for more information at ccrebar@gmail.com or 922-8072. We thank our Casino Night sponsors who are listed at the end of the BARK!

SPONSOR YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER FOR CASINO NIGHT?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR PERSIAN FRIENDS! We celebrate New Year on January 1 but Persian’s celebrate New Year this week which coincides with the beginning of Springtime.

DRESS CODE REMINDERS

As the weather gets to be nice and warm, students might forget some of the dress code rules so here are a few reminders:

* Hats are not allowed to be worn on campus and hoods cannot be worn
covering the head.

* Sleeveless tops need to be two-finger width or are not allowed.

* Skirts need to be long enough so that when the hand is down at the
side, the skirt at least as long as your fingers.

* Open-Toed shoes are not allowed at school (flip flops, etc.)

SUMMER MATH PROGRAM

Bergeson is pleased to host a fun and interactive math program this summer
for elementary and middle school students. “FASTTMath” & “Fraction Nation”
are computer-based programs addressing operations with whole numbers and
working with fractions and decimals.

This fee-based summer class offers
different program/time slot options and runs from 6/28 – 8/12, Monday –
Thursdays. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers Mrs. Terheggen
and Mrs. Wiseman.

BERGESON SUMMER ACADEMY

We are pleased to host our 2nd year of the Bergeson Summer Academy for our current Kindergarten through 5th grade students from 9 – 11 AM, Monday through Thursday in two 2-week sessions starting on Monday, June 28. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers and is a wonderful way to help students keep the great academic skills which they have built throughout the course of this school year.

We will send a flyer home next week. The program will focus on Reading and Math. Classes will be kept small so that we can help to individualize instruction. Parents can register online at http://community-ed-capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/. Type “Bergeson” in the search bar to register. If you were interested in doing both the math program and the Summer Academy, you could schedule your math times before and after the academy times to extend the day.

HAVE YOUR CHILDREN BEEN TO THE SYMPHONY LATELY?

The South Coast Symphony is performing a local concert at Crossline Church (formerly Lake Hills Church) at 23331 Moulton Parkway in Laguna Hills on March 26 at 7:30 PM. The best part is that you can buy tickets for $5 per person as long as you bring one child along! (regular ticket prices are $30 per person so this is a great deal) The performance will feature Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, a Paraguayan Folk Harpist and beautiful music including Sibelius’ Finlandia, Dvorak’s Largo from the New World Symphony, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Broadway Reflections.

This will be an especially wonderful performance for Bergeson students who are in band and orchestra since our music teachers, Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Ludwig perform with the South Coast Symphony. For your $5 tickets, make a check out to South Coast Symphony and the tickets will come home in your child’s backpack. We have them in the office.

IN LINE ~ ON TIME

Congratulations to Mrs. Roso, Mrs. H. Thomas and Mrs. Gray’s classes who have been In Line ~ On Time for 17 days to spell out the words PERFECT ATTENDANCE (one letter for each day) and received their Popsicle party and
new class ball. (Congrats to the parents, too!)

CELEBRATION BOOKS LIBRARY DONATION

Purchasing a book for the Bergeson Library is a great way to honor your child’s birthday, applaud a major accomplishment, recognize good grades or just proclaim your child as an outstanding Bergeson Bulldog. In recognition of your donation to the library, your child is recognized by Principal Scholl during the Friday morning flag salute and a “Book Plate” will be affixed to the inside cover of your book selection announcing, “This book was donated in your child’s honor!” Recognitions of book donations are presented every Friday at 7:45 am.

Book Club Forms can be picked up in the office. Donating a book to the Bergeson Library is a wonderful tribute for your child that all Bergeson students can enjoy for many years. What a wonderful gift to give to grow our library. Megan Conrad – Mrs. Buchner’s class – in honor of her 10th birthday!

SHINING STARS

Students have donated their time and given of themselves for a service-learning project called Shining Stars. Applications for these projects are in the office. We will celebrate the students and their accomplishments through our Character Counts program and honor them at our Friday flag ceremony. Congratulations to our Shining Stars for their community service and for “paying it forward”: Danielle & Savannah Searson, Daniel and Isabella Deacon, Max Etienne, Austin Mason, Craig Fiske, Jillian & Gretchen Stowe, Avery White, Michaela Snook, Cecilia Schmitz, we’re proud of you!

HAPPY MARCH BIRTHDAYS TO THE FOLLOWING BERGESON STAFF MEMBERS!
