The City of Aliso Viejo will test its recently acquired Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system at 3 pm on Wednesday, March 6. The WEA system is similar to the Amber Alert system in which you will hear a loud tone on your cell phone along with this text message: “Aliso Viejo Emergency Alert TEST. No action is required. Feedback at www.cityofalisoviejo.com.” The text message will be sent to all cell phones within the City of Aliso Viejo and does not require you to register.
In a real emergency, this system can be activated to provide lifesaving instructions to anyone in the City including residents, visitors and commuters who work in Aliso Viejo. The system can be used for all hazards or disasters where immediate action from the public is necessary.
The City of Laguna Beach will also simultaneously test its independent Wireless Emergency Alert system and Outdoor Warning System on March 6.
