CASINO NIGHT RECAP
The BESF Casino Night was a great success! Thank you to everyone who spent their time and money to support our school in this way. Thank you also for some generous donations that have come in from some of you families that could not attend. You have really made a difference! The feedback has been that it was that Casino Night was a BLAST! We expect the buzz about how fun it was to get more of you there next year! Everyone left with smiles on their faces after casino gaming, dancing, eating and walking away with fantastic deals on auction items. The luckiest guests of the night were Mrs. Bennett who won the Grand prized raffle – a $2,000 diamond necklace that looks just beautiful on her! 2nd prize was the two nights in Napa at the Oleander Inn and Chanticleer VIP Wine Tasting tour – which went to Ron and Krista Sterud! We are still doing the post-event accounting, but we expect all of your purchases and donations to do a lot to help enrich the education provided at Bergeson Elementary School. Also thank you especially to all of the volunteers who made this event and auction happen for the benefit of Bergeson Elementary School and our students! Caprice Crebar, Kerry Stewart, Marc Mootchnik and Marlo Walenta were the main movers and shakers for the Casino Night and we thank them so much!

SPECIAL “BARK” ON-LINE AUCTION!! ARE YOU OR YOUR CHILD IN NEED OF BRACES???? One of the Elite Providers (top 1%) Dr. Newhart donated TWO full sets of braces and up to two years of treatment to the Bergeson Elementary School Foundation!! What an amazingly generous donation in support of our school. Every one of us investigating braces should consider Dr. Newhart. http://newhartortho.com/. He’s conveniently located on Rancho Niguel Road. The Marino family already bid and won one set of his braces and services at Casino Night, but we wanted to put the second set out to all of the school community who couldn’t come to the event. So please take a look at Dr. Newhart’s website and services, and you can place your bid by emailing Caprice at ccrebar@gmail.com. She will continue to accept emailed bids through April 18th. The highest bidder on April 18th will receive a full set of braces and 24 months of treatment worth $4,000. It can be upgraded for a fee to Invisalign braces for teens and/adults. This could potentially save you thousands and 100% will go to the Bergeson Elementary School Foundation! Thank you Dr. Newhart! http://newhartortho.com/

Bergeson is pleased to host a fun and interactive math program this summer for elementary and middle school students. “FASTTMath” & “Fraction Nation” are computer-based programs addressing operations with whole numbers and working with fractions and decimals. This fee-based summer class offers different program/time slot options and runs from 6/28 – 8/12, Monday – Thursdays. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers Mrs. Terheggen and Mrs. Wiseman. Parents can get an application by clicking HERE. Click on the “Summer Math Program” link on the left side of the page. We are required to have 60 students by May 15 to run this program at Bergeson. Don’t miss out on this great summer learning opportunity for your kids!

BERGESON SUMMER ACADEMY
We are pleased to host our 2nd year of the Bergeson Summer Academy for our current Kindergarten through 5th grade students from 9 – 11 AM, Monday through Thursday in two 2-week sessions starting on Monday, June 28. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers and is a wonderful way to help students keep the great academic skills which they have built throughout the course of this school year. We will send a flyer home next week. The program will focus on Reading and Math. Classes will be kept small so that we can help to individualize instruction. Parents can register online at http://community-ed-capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/. Type “Bergeson” in the search bar to register. If you were interested in doing both the math program and the Summer Academy, you could schedule your math times before and after the academy times to extend the day.

CELEBRATION BOOKS LIBRARY DONATION
Purchasing a book for the Bergeson Library is a great way to honor your child’s birthday, applaud a major accomplishment, recognize good grades or just proclaim your child as an outstanding Bergeson Bulldog. In recognition of your donation to the library, your child is recognized by Principal Scholl during the Friday morning flag salute and a “Book Plate” will be affixed to the inside cover of your book selection announcing, “This book was donated in your child’s honor!” Recognitions of book donations are presented every Friday at 7:45 am. Book Club Forms can be picked up in the office. Donating a book to the Bergeson Library is a wonderful tribute for your child that all Bergeson students can enjoy for many years. What a wonderful gift to give to grow our library. Michaela Snook – Mrs. Ritchie’s Class – In honor of: Happy 8th Birthday!

SHINING STARS
Students have donated their time and given of themselves for a service-learning project called Shining Stars. Applications for these projects are in the office. We will celebrate the students and their accomplishments through our Character Counts program and honor them at our Friday flag ceremony. Congratulations to our Shining Stars for their community service and for “paying it forward”: Michaela Snook, Jordan & Jacob Sprick, we’re proud of you!
