This month AVMS will be participating in the Pennies for Prevention program benefiting The Raise Foundation. The Pennies for Prevention program will run for one week, beginning Monday, April 19th, and ending on Friday April 23rd. During this period we ask students to collect spare change and bring it into AVMS and support our goal of raising $3,000! The money will go to the Raise Foundation in an effort to support their mission to stop the cycle of child abuse through leadership, education, advocacy, community collaboration, comprehensive services and through their role as Orange County’s official designated Child Abuse Prevention Council.
The Pennies for Prevention program has many incentives for students. Not only will students be supporting children and families in the local community, the top collecting class will win a party of their choice. Class competition will run through period 1 and students are encouraged to participate in other school-related activities happening during the week. There will be a kick-off assembly on Friday, April 16th and students will receive an informational letter to take home soon.
