Girl Scouts Accepting Nominations for OC Companies Dedicated to Advancing Women in Leadership

Date:

Girl Scouts of Orange County will recognize companies leading the way in gender equality and female leadership at the 10th annual Celebrate Leadership event in November;

Nomination deadline is June 3, 2019.

Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC), the local council of the world’s largest leadership development program for girls, announced today it is accepting nominations for Orange County companies dedicated to advancing women in leadership. Girl Scouts will recognize three top nominated companies, as selected by a panel of impartial OC community and business leaders, at Girl Scouts of Orange County’s 10th annual Celebrate Leadership on the evening of Friday, November 8, 2019, at Fashion Island Hotel in Newport Beach.

To nominate an OC company for Girl Scouts’ new Advancing Women in Leadership – Workplace Impact accolade, visit girlscoutsoc.org/celebrateleadership and complete the online form. Nomination deadline is June 3, 2019.

The new Advancing Women in Leadership – Workplace Impact honoree category supports Girl Scouts’ focus on preparing girls for a lifetime of leadership and paving the way for the next generation of female leaders to thrive.

“As our world grows more complicated, it is increasingly important that we have the greatest minds working on our nation’s toughest challenges,” said Girl Scouts of Orange County CEO Vikki Shepp. “We must do more than invite women into our workplaces. We must create environments where they can thrive. By shining a light on companies paving the way for the female leaders of today and tomorrow, we are investing in girls who will change the world.”

Also highlighted at Girl Scouts’ 10th Annual Celebrate Leadership event will be several other new categories (honorees will be selected by Girl Scouts of Orange County), including G.I.R.L. (Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader™), Man Enough to be a Girl Scout, Community Impact, and the Gold Award Girl Scout.

All honorees will be paired with outstanding Girl Scouts at Celebrate Leadership in November, linking tomorrow’s leaders with leaders of today. In addition to new honoree categories, the 10th-anniversary event will feature fun new challenge activities that celebrate Girl Scout traditions, exciting live and silent auction items, and, of course, the organization’s always amazing Girl Scouts.
