ATTENTION SENIORS!
This year the Analytical Writing Placement Examination (AWPE) will be administered on Saturday, May 8 to students who have been admitted to the University for the fall 2010 and who by, April 1, 2010, have not satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement by other means. ADVANCED PLACEMENT STUDENTS
Students have been given specific exam instructions regarding the May Advanced Placement Exams. This is for students who are registered. The instructions are very clear on what to bring and the AP teachers will instruct them on the specific location. Morning exam check-in is 7:30A.M. and afternoon exam check-in is 12:30P.M.. Students should be on time as late admittance will be prohibited. Please note that electronic equipment and cell phones are strictly prohibited in the testing rooms. Thank you for your cooperation.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT
Academic Advisors and Counselors are meeting with all current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to discuss their course selection for the fall semester. They will be seeing students through April 23 and then again for several weeks in May. (They take a break to administer the AP, STAR and the CAHSEE exam in May).

Discussion points:

Current 9th graders:
For 10th grade – must have 6 classes
Must have English, math, science, social science, two electives

Current 10th graders:
For 11th grade – must have a minimum of 5 classes
Must have English and US History, highly recommend math and science
Most college bound students take 6 classes

Current 11th graders:
For 12th grade – must have a minimum of 5 classes
Must have English and American Government (semester) and Economics (semester)
Highly recommend taking math and science
Most college bound students take 6 classes

9 WEEK PROGRESS REPORTS
Students who are currently earning D’s or F’s will be receiving notification in the mail. There is still time to bring up these grades so continue working hard, or begin to work hard!

AP SCHOLAR DESIGNATIONS:
Attention seniors and their parents! To verify your status for AP Scholar Designation during Senior Awards please see Mrs. Wendt in the Guidance Office.

VALEDICTORIAN STATUS AT SENIOR AWARDS
This is a reminder to parents and students that Valedictorian recognition at Senior Awards is based upon the cumulative academic GPA through the 12-week Progress Report.

ADVISEMENT DAY
Advisement Day and student registration for the 2010 Fall semester is already upon us. Students will receive their information materials in their second period tutorial on Tuesday. They will have until Thursday, April 1st to consult with each of their teachers in order to make the best possible course selections for any openings in their schedule for next year. Students will then return their registration forms to their period 2 teachers on Thursday, April1st. Parents please discuss these selections with your student.
