HEY KIDS! ASK YOUR MOM OUT TO BREAKFAST FOR MOTHER’S DAY!
The flyer will be sent home next week for our Bergeson Mother’s Day breakfast at Mimi’s Café in their Garden Room on Saturday, May 8 at 8 AM. Kids and mom will have a very special breakfast together which includes a picture (compliments of Jenny Mason Photography) and a rose for mom. $20 for mom (grandmother or guardian) and $15 for kids will include a full breakfast and the fixin’s. We can only accommodate 150 so get your reservation in as soon as you get the flyer. Dad’s can stay home to take care of the honey-do list! This event is sponsored by our Bergeson Foundation. To print out the flyer, click here.

TEACHER RAFFLE
The teacher raffle tickets were sent home this week which is a wonderful way to be rewarded by your favorite teacher or principal while helping to support our school. Each student took home 20 raffle tickets. They are $2 each. Write your child’s first and last name on the tickets and what teacher (or principal) they are being designated for. Return the appropriate dollar amount, $2 per ticket and checks can be made out to BESF. This program is sponsored by the Bergeson Foundation and the profit will go toward our Bergeson music program.

SUMMER MATH PROGRAM
This program might get moved to another school unless we have more sign ups from Bergeson! If interested, please sign up soon. Bergeson is pleased to host a fun and interactive math program this summer for elementary and middle school students. “FASTTMath” & “Fraction Nation” are computer-based programs addressing operations with whole numbers and working with fractions and decimals. This fee-based summer class offers different program/time slot options and runs from 6/28 – 8/12, Monday – Thursdays. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers Mrs. Terheggen and Mrs. Wiseman. Parents can get an application by clicking HERE. Click on the “Summer Math Program” link on the left side of the page. We are required to have 60 students by May 15 to run this program at Bergeson. Don’t miss out on this great summer learning opportunity for your kids!

WAX MUSEUM SLIDE SHOW
If you go to the Bergeson website, you’ll see the slide show of our awesome 5th graders who dressed up and depicted a historically famous person. 5th graders wonderfully recited their speech to tell the story of what their character was all about and created a backdrop of information and pictures to support their studies. Thank you to our 5th grade teachers, Mrs. Wiseman, Hornig, Jones and Mr. Paine for preparing students with this wonderful project, too.

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING REGISTRATION FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR
Your child needs to be 5 years old before December 2, 2010 to be eligible for Kindergarten. Or if you have a child currently attending private school and are interested in enrolling them in grades 1-5; please stop by and pick up a packet. The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers and is a wonderful way to help students keep the great academic skills which they have built throughout the course of this school year. We will send a flyer home next week. The program will focus on Reading and Math. Classes will be kept small so that we can help to individualize instruction. Parents can register online at http://community-ed-capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/. Type “Bergeson” in the search bar to register. If you were interested in doing both the math program and the Summer Academy, you could schedule your math times before and after the academy times to extend the day.

IN LINE ~ ON TIME
Congratulations to Mrs. Brewer and Meckel’s classes who have been In Line ~ On Time for 17 days to spell out the words PERFECT ATTENDANCE (one letter for each day) and received their Popsicle party and new class ball. (Congrats to the parents, too!)

CELEBRATION BOOKS LIBRARY DONATION
Purchasing a book for the Bergeson Library is a great way to honor your child’s birthday, applaud a major accomplishment, recognize good grades or just proclaim your child as an outstanding Bergeson Bulldog. In recognition of your donation to the library, your child is recognized by Principal Scholl during the Friday morning flag salute and a “Book Plate” will be affixed to the inside cover of your book selection announcing, “This book was donated in your child’s honor!” Recognitions of book donations are presented every Friday at 7:45 am. Book Club Forms can be picked up in the office. Donating a book to the Bergeson Library is a wonderful tribute for your child that all Bergeson students can enjoy for many years. What a wonderful gift to give to grow our library.

SHINING STARS
Students have donated their time and given of themselves for a service-learning project called Shining Stars. Applications for these projects are in the office. We will celebrate the students and their accomplishments through our Character Counts program and honor them at our Friday flag ceremony. Congratulations to our Shining Stars for their community service and for “paying it forward”: Ikaika & Leah Leite, Carson Poremba, Sara & Ariana Daneschmand, Megan Lawritson, Isabel Schmitz, Patrick Mattiocco, Zeina Mahmoud.

HAPPY MAY BIRTHDAYS TO THE FOLLOWING BERGESON STAFF MEMBERS!
